The 'Rewel Bikes' workshop in Bolzano is legendary. Since 40 years the passionate owner and craftsman Werner Pichler creates bespoke bike frames from Titanium. Bike-fitting, customizing, cutting, welding, finishing, assembling and repairing - every step is done with manual precision. With calm dedication frame-builder Pichler revealed the tricks behind achieving the lightest and sturdiest frames out there.

Workshop Portrait
I had the chance to learn from the craftsman and document his work process in his welding workshop for a week. My photographic work wants to cast a spotlight a hidden champions of frame-building with an unmet experience and passion for craftsmanship. Manual work seems to lose in interest among younger generations, so I believe in the importance to document and preserve heritage of making things yourself.
